How to remake baby clothes? Children’s clothes are now available in an amazing number of patterns and colors, but there is still a problem. Namely, our little ones grow out of them very quickly. Fortunately, we can deal with it with simple home remedies. How to remake baby clothes?

Sweatshirt jumpsuit

We can easily transform an older child’s worn-out sweatshirt or our own into a baby jumpsuit. It will be suitable not only for crawling on the floor, which is able to quickly deal with new clothes, but also for trips to the park or sandbox, where the little ones get dirty quickly. In this way, we will give a used sweatshirt a second life, and we will dress the toddler in something that will allow him to play as much as he wants without fear of soiling or damaging the clothes.

To do this, we need to lay the sweatshirt flat on an even surface, and then put a long-sleeved shirt in the size in which the child wears it. We put it so that the holes for the head coincide. On the lower part of the sweatshirt we put shorts in the size worn by the toddler. Here the cuffs of the sweatshirt and the lower part of the leg must overlap. In the next step, we trace the blouse and trousers, preferably with soap or a white crayon.

Then we cut out the shape of the sweatshirt according to the pattern, turn it inside out and sew the edges, except of course the holes for the head, hands and feet. Now it remains only to turn the work inside out and the suit is ready.

T-shirt skirt

If we have a t-shirt that for some reason is no longer suitable for wearing, we can use it to sew a skirt to the toddler’s blouse. T-shirts from an older child that have stains on the collars or chest will be especially suitable here, because this part of the shirt will no longer be needed. It is enough to overload the T-shirt at such a height to remove the damaged or stained material.

Then, put the child’s blouse on a flat surface, and the remaining material from the blouse underneath. It will be two layers. The material will be wider than the blouse, but that’s okay. In this way, by wrinkling it, we will get a beautifully arranged skirt.

T-shirt dress

We can also create a dress for a younger child from an older child’s t-shirt. It is even simpler than the above mentioned skirt sewing. It will make it much easier for us if we find a dress with a simple cut among the child’s clothes. These will work best on straps. Lay the T-shirt flat on an even surface and place the dress on top of it. Trace the edges so that the dress fits the younger child. We also mark the size of the sleeves.

Then we cut or cut out the shirt along the traced lines, turn it inside out and sew it manually or with a machine. After turning right side out, your new dress is ready.

Elastic skirt

Elastic materials, for example, from tight-fitting clothes, are also great for creating a skirt for a small child. A tight blouse, which is already too small for us, we put on a flat surface. We need to cut a strip of thickness equal to the length of the skirt we intend to sew. Cut the second piece so that it is the width of the headband. We measure the circumference of our child’s tummy and fold the skirt into pleats so that the circumference matches the circumference of the toddler’s tummy.

Then stitch it together to keep it together. From a strip of the width of the headband, cut one that will match the circumference of the skirt. We fold it in half and sew it so that it is a belt holding the clothes on the baby’s belly. A skirt constructed in this way will not slide down.

Bottom dungarees

Trousers left by an older child can be easily converted into dungarees for a younger one. Just fold them in half and lay them on a flat surface. On the trousers we put a blouse with straps and trousers – and trace their shape. If there is a small age difference between the children, there will probably be only enough material for short dungarees, but they will be both comfortable and effective.

Cut or cut out the fabric again, turn it inside out, and then sew it up. Let’s not forget about using the rest of the materials to make braces for dungarees.

Dyeing clothes

One of the biggest problems with children’s clothes is stains. Especially if we are dealing with a toddler who is just learning to eat or walk, they often make clothes unusable. But are you sure? Well, no.

They can be dyed, cleverly masking stains. There are plenty of dyes on the market that will allow you to transform clothes into a different color in the way you prefer. Sometimes it will require soaking the fabric in a pot of water, and other times just washing.

There are also ways to dye clothes with natural dyes. For example, tea will allow us to dye clothes brown. A large amount of onion skins, especially the red one, can give us a burgundy color. If we work with beets properly, we can get colors similar to red and pink. Turmeric has been known for centuries as an excellent way to obtain a yellow color.
